Purgatory

I spent last week up in the mountains outside Durango, CO.  A group from my church, Hill Country Bible Church UT, all headed up to ski the slopes at Purgatory.  We had about 40 people on the trip and I was one of the drivers.  I try to be humble, but we had the BEST van on the trip for both going up and coming back.  Sorry to those that switched out of my van for the ride home.  We had nothing but three glorious days boarding the snow on God's great creation.  The trip was phenomenal and allowed for friendships to begin with some awesome people.  We had a great speaker who really opened my eyes to something I had somehow continuously missed in reading the Bible.

We were talking about the life of David and his anointing in 1 Samuel 16.  God selected David long before he was ever to be king, and He even did it somewhat publicly.  But it wasn't for many years that David finally started to be recognized as anything more than a shepherd boy.  When we do give our lives to God, there is an anointing that occurs and may not come to fruition till years down the line.  God doesn't see in reference to a timeline.  But everything that occurs till then is a preparation.  We just might not understand it.  That's one of the things I love about Scripture.  You can read passages over and over and over again and then something or someone comes along and your see that same part and it jumps out at you with some new revelation.  God is continually amazing!

Also on the trip, an addiction was started for many of us to a card game that we shall not talk about.  You will have to join me in a game to figure it out, I don't want you going and searching for it online.  I even got to meet up with a friend of mine who moved to Durango to serve as a youth pastor.  I could not have asked for a better trip.  I only hope we get to do this again next year.
